Cohiba Cigars have worked hard for their reputations as a luxurious smoke. Before they were even an official company, Eduardo Ribera built a reputation for himself in Cuba hand-rolling his own cigars. It was during this time that one of Fidel Castro’s bodyguard’s shared one of Ribera’s cigars with the Cuban president. Castro was taken back by the flavor that he enlisted Ribera to begin production on a private supply for himself and other top ranking government officials.
